Product form design is one of the most important parts of product design. Any kind of product cannot exist without form. With the progress of the society and the change of market demand, customers become more diverse consumer demand, flexible and personalized, resulting in a single product are increasingly unable to meet the diverse needs of users. The current products should not only be carrier of functions but also a platform for communication between designers and users. This communication should include sense of style, spirit, feeling and even guidance of functions. And the first communicator is product form. However, it is usually depends on designers'experience and inspiration in the traditional product form design process. The veracity and validity of semantic expression is not guaranteed because designers'understanding is not enough to represent common users'. It makes the traditional product form design has obvious limitations.In the situation mentioned above, a quantitative product form design method is needed. The aim of this study is to present a new method of product form design based on users'kansei image and product's form feature lines. By Kansei engineering technology, users'kansei image and product`s form feature lines are quantified and the relations of them are determined.In this method, users'kansei image is quantified by semantic differential method. On the basis of it, users'kansei image is screened by variance analysis and correlation analysis. The main kansei image of users are distinguished and classified by Principal component analysis and Cluster analysis. Then the users'kansei main image with the biggest Correlation coefficient to users'tendency is distinguished. It is quantized to be used in process of the product design. In the meantime, the method of collecting and quantification of handheld mobile communications terminal`s form feature is founded. At last, users'kansei image and product`s form feature lines are quantified and the relations of them are determined. In this paper, the mobile information terminal's form was taken as an example to test the validity of this method.This method provides effective theoretical basis and operation method for designers to understand the needs of the users and assess the design scheme and forecast product form design trend prediction.
