Although the automobile electric technology is developing quickly, thedevelopment of automobile inspection instrument is lagging behind the automobileitself. Hence, introducing VI to the field of the automobile inspection, which meansspecialized, abundant and stable virtual technology with open end, can give a bigpush to automobile maintenance&inspection technology. VI will combine thetechnology of computer, software and automobile electricity. It will be easy foroperating with less cost and can fulfill the requirements for occupational educationin each level.In1986National Instruments (NI) raised the concept of Virtual Instrument (VI),which combined the technologies of computer, network and instrument. It raised theslogan, software is instrument, which broke the traditional concept of instrument andcaused the revolution in the field of instrument and automation industry. The emergeand development of VI shows the tightened connection of computer technology,communication technology and measurement technology, which represents thedevelopment of future instrument industry.The theoretical basis of this article is the control system principle ofelectric-control engine and the traditional automobile inspector. It develops thedemonstration teaching system of electric-control engine based on wave analysis inLabVIEW8.20. It can simulate wave inspection and each sensors, execute timelywave inspection, simple wave analysis and so on. The experimental subject is1ZR-FE electric-control engine, which is equipped in Toyota Corolla. This articletalks about the method of wave analysis used in the automobile failure inspection bytesting&analysis on standard&failure waves. The main line of this article is thedevelopment of demonstration teaching system. The purpose is to improve thepracticing teaching effect and add new teaching methods. It is also thesupplementary for the lack of traditional automobile inspection instruments in theteaching.This article, which is divided into below aspects, is about the wave analysis ofelectric-control engine and the demonstration teaching system of electric-controlengine based on wave analysis.1) It introduces the modern automobile failure testing technology and thecurrent status&developing trend for automobile VI technology. It analyses eachkind of testing methods for automobile failures. It discusses the availability andtechnicality of wave analysis used in automobile failure inspection. It summarizesthe inspection ways based on wave analysis for automobiles equipped withelectric-control engine. It introduces the wave features for each sensor and executor, which gives the guiding direction for system development.2) It introduces the application of LabVIEW8.20, which includes the systemdevelopment, signal collection, signal conditioning, virtual instrumentation, wavetest and so on. It develops the demonstration teaching system based on wave analysisfor automobile electric-control engine, which is auxiliary for practicing teaching.3) It introduces the basic structure and working principle of1ZR-FEelectric-control engine equipped in Toyota Corolla. It talks about the control circuit,the control mechanism of electric-control unit, the controlling relationship&signalfeatures among sensor, executor and electric-control unit. It analyses the wavefeature for each sensor in automobile electric-control engine and changing patternand the relationship between standard wave&wave with failure.4) It modifies and proves the wave inspection and demonstration teaching. Italso verifies the system performance to ensure it can satisfy design and usage.
