With the development of electrical technology and the competition on lighting products market, the argument is increasing about the reference value of'rated maximum temperature tc'. At first, the'rated maximum temperature tc' has the different meanings in the different IEC standards. Second, as a heat source, the measurement of ballast temperature is in a environment which is hot than indoor and outdoor temperature. The measurement method and the selection of environment equipment are critical to the accuracy.Author approach the result by 3 ways. First, by creating a thermal circuit model author analysis the relevant thermal resistance and get the conclusion for key parts. Then author makes a series of simulation on some possible factors by Flotherm software and find the key factors for accurate tc temperature measurement is convection. Finally author takes a real sample to measure the temperature in different environment equipment and verify the thermal model and simulation conclusion..During the analysis and comparison, author also explains the root cause of different meaning in IEC standards.
