Urban space has a close contact with the development of transport system, at the same time transport system has an impact on urban space dimension and land use. High-speed Railway (HSR) construction in China is in the process of urbanization, during this period the city is not only facing the rapidly expansion of urban space itself, but also facing the integration of the internal spatial integration. The HSR construction and HSR station region developments have catalyzed the growth of regional economic, evolution of urban space, and changes of resident lifestyle. Thus development projects of HSR station region are definitely one of the most important factors to guide urban growth.Meanwhile, people in the city prefer HSR as their way to travel around, as a result HSR station region is considered as a new grow point of the urban. To achieve these expectations, we must break out the traditional single-node way of thinking, make full use of scale effect, and form regional competitive advantage. This paper answers"what to do"and"how to do"in the HSR station region development projects, and has a discussion about the positioning strategy, functional strategy, urban planning outlines and development models, etc. In order to make HSR station region develop into a new Sub-CBD and active community.The first chapter expounds the background. I study the related theory and practice to define the research scope of HSR station region development projects, and explain the conceptions referred in the paper.In the second chapter, I analyzed representative development practices, summarized the factors of positioning strategy. Then I can classify the HSR station regions, and establish different strategies.In the third chapter, I reflected on the studies before, and found out a method based on our own country conditions. I focus on the fundamental factor——the using groups, analyze their behavior and expected demands, so as to establish the functional strategy.In the fourth chapter, I firstly classify the function facilities in the HSR station region, compute the investment balance and operating cost balance in order to decide the development scale. I also provide a set of experienced data as a consideration. On the base of all the above, I propose the method of how to decide the development scale, and the data. Then I analyzed two cases to introduce the method.In the sixth chapter, I summarize the main conclusions of this paper, and try to find out the possibilities in further research.There are four aspects of innovation in the paper:First of all, this paper is carried out from the behavior of different using groups. The expected demands and the functional strategies of HSR station region are based on our own conditions.Secondly, I summarize the factors of HSR station region developments, and classification system of HSR station regions.Thirdly, I sum up the calculation process of investment balance and operating cost balance, change previous description of qualitative research to quantify.Finally, I try to find out the possibilities in further research.
