Research Of Residential Space Environment Design Based On Defensibility

China's economic development and urbanization process speed faster and faster since thereform and opening up,moreover,urban crime has been severe. The research of many scholars athome and abroad testify to the correlation between economic, urban scale and the crime rate.Crime in the city is also become China's social problems in the process of development whichneed to focus on.This paper firstly made regression and combed to the theory in the field of environmentdesign and crime prevention,summarizing six basic principles of the crime prevention in theenvironment design field. That is "Territoriality Reinforcement","Natural Surveillance","AccessControl","Image and Maintenance ","Activity Support" and "Neighborhood". Then therelationship between residential environment and space defensive are discussed in detail.Thereare various environmental factors that influence space defensive. This paper analysizedseparately from residential area, land layout, space demarcations and social environmentaccording to the references both at home and abroad,and committed to find the problems in mostresidencial areas at present. Then aiming at these problems, put forward the environmentaldesign strategy of defensive residential space, including reasonable mixed use, diversification ofmonitoring means, matching strategies of scales, and improved strategy of social environment inresidential areas. As strategy for the guidance, puts forward to the specific design method aims atbuildings, roads, boundaries and entries, plants, lighting and other environmental factors.Finally,two residential areas at Xianlin district in Nanjing are analyzed through the investigation imagesand statistics of the questionnaire,then find the safety problems existing of these two residentialareas, putting forward to some suggestions of reformation and design on the basis ofenvironmental defensive strategy and method.This paper explored further the relationship between residential environment and crimeprevention based on the study before,trying to put forward the design strategies and methods ofdefensive residential environment at micro level,then provided a new concept for domestic crimeprevention and reference for this theory in practice and the development of the application.
