With the rapid development of economy, the demand for coal is sharply increasing day by day. And with the constant expansion of city scope, activities range of urban population has expanded near the surrounding of mining area. Due to the underground coal goaf, the overburden is falling, breaking and bending under the deadweight and the carrying capacity is reduced greatly, which made the earth surface move and deform such as settlement, horizontally move and curvature and caused the damage of the buildings on the goaf. According to damage situation of buildings in the mining subsidence area, which is caused by movement and deformation of earth surface, how to rationally evaluate the damage extent of the building and establish the feasible damage evaluation model, it is always the hot that experts and scholars concerned on.The damage influencing factors of the buildings in the mining subsidence area include movement and deformation of earth surface, the foundation and the upper structure of building. Among them, movement and deformation of earth surface is the main influencing factors. Experts and scholars in domestic and abroad always evaluate the damage level of buildings according to the size of earth surface deformation but consider more or less about the relationship between the structure of buildings itself and damage. This paper applies the fuzzy synthesis theory and uses the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to establish the damage evaluation system of buildings in the mining subsidence area. The system include the influencing factors such as the building characteristics, the current situation of buildings and so on. It is considered comprehensively by the two evaluation indexes of underground and the earth. People apply this model to evalue the damage of the houses and the final evaluation result is consistent with expert conclusions. It is proved that this paper is applied to the damage evaluation of buildings in the mining subsidence area. So the paper has the application, comprehension and practical evaluation.
