With the rapid development of our economy, belt conveyors are widely used in metallurgy, coal, transportation, water and electricity, chemical and other industries. However, the key components of tension control system for large long-distance belt conveyors need to be imported. In order to replace the so far imported products, a smart hydraulic tension control system for the typical hydraulic tensioning device of belt conveyors is designed in this thesis.First of all, the development of the hydraulic tensioning device of belt conveyors is introduced briefly, and some present technical problems of our country is analyzed. In order to improve the level of intelligentize and satisfy the various requirements of consumers, the single chip technology is applied in hydraulic tension control system for belt conveyors.Secondly, the structure and principle of hydraulic tensioning device is described, and the method of keeping the pressure of accumulator and hydraulic cylinder (tension pressure) is analyzed and designed. To be brief, the pressure of accumulator can be kept by starting and stopping hydraulic pump, and the tension pressure can be kept at a constant through controlling the direction and size of opening of electrohydraulic servo valve. Besides, aiming at the disturbance caused by pressure fluctuation in traditional tension control system, a method using controlled electrohydraulic servo valve is proposed to eliminate the disturbance and maintain tension pressure unchanged for great lengths of time.Thirdly, the design and realization method of special instruments for belt conveyors is expounded. The control system mainly includes control strategy, hardware and software. The control strategy is selected by comparing the traditional methods, and simulated and analyzed using MATLAB. In order to obtain more suited and stable system, the hardware and software is designed synchronously. Furthermore, in terms of hardware, the modular design method is adopted to reduce interfere between electronic components. The software is designed as function modules, which can be called by relevant main programs according to different running condition to realize the control of tension pressure.Finally, for the application of this system, a typical electrical diagram is designed, and the market prospect of the system is so introduced.
