With the development of our country's power system, the technology based microcomputer protection has also developed rapidly, so the research of microcomputer protectionsimulation is very important. Because of a malfunction outage can cause some certain adverse impacts, the safe and reliable operation of power systems has great significance. Meanwhile, the device of microcomputer protection in power system faults happens to have after may cause loss to the minimum. Substation isn't only a major component of the power system, but also links between power plants and the user's part, playing a role in transformation and distribution of electric energy. In the power system, in addition to take measures to eliminate or reduce the possibility of failure, the need to ensure that in the event of failure the selective removal of the fault component is quick, avoiding trouble against the expansion of the potential loss to be reduced to Minimum, so as to ensure the stability of power system operation and maximize the power of the non-fault part of the continued and reliable supply. Therefore, the simulation about the microcomputer's protection of the substation is necessary.This thesis introduces the main components and model techniques of the microcomputer based protection simulation system of substation, meanwhile, the simulation system designs have been described in this article. The modular design ideas are used to the simulation software, the function of each module are respectively simulated. In this thesis, it firstly introduces the general structure of the microcomputer protection simulation, including the wiring diagram electrical substations, power flow and short circuit calculation, model software, data support, and LCD screen and keyboard design, then the substation simulation model technique, main function, the simulation range and simulation platform development environment are described in detail. In this thesis are analyzed in detail in the system in normal and fault of calculation method and graphical interface of function and structure.In this thesis, it is a pure software design. In simulation system, a simulation model of substations is established, in this simulation model can carry out normal operation of the system, the substation simulation flow calculation and fault setting, thus can trigger short circuit calculation and then by microcomputer protection device to decide whether it is happened to the protection movement, if some actions happen, then occur in the whole trip movement, the simulation process tide distribution and fault components change in state after graphical interface can be in the dynamic display. LCD screen and keyboard operation are major parts of microcomputer-based protection simulation, the system can be seen through the screen when the trend in the normal value, and the failure of the relevant fault information. Keyboard can also be operated relately when the simulating is running. In which the LCD display and keyboard through a database link with the substation model, data can be achieved through a database of any exchange, so the database play an important part in the simulation system.The design of substation simulation system is based on graphics interface, the platform is with VB 6.0 as a development tool, the microcomputer-based protection simulation is realized by using cotton thread object technology.
