Nowadays, under the general trend of globalization and integration, the communication among science and technology, information, culture and other fields has been expanded constantly. The expansion not only accelerates the promotion of urbanization but also brings about the harmonization of culture and society. The landscape is gradually losing their ethnic, regional and traditional features. Landscape lacking of soul, hollow and full of similarity was no longer able to satisfy the emotional demands by a person on the landscape. Therefore people would rather to choose the landscape which respects to the natural environment and highlights the local cultural features. The scenic area as the most concentrated area of natural resources and human resources, it's development and utilization of its scenic resources and scenic spot design should pay more attention to regional expression. The regional is one eternal theme in the field of landscape planning and design. The advocate for regional expression of scenic spot design concept is founded on panic at the lack of regional cultural connotation in scenic spot, on the trend of lost the unique charm and competitive power. Only when rooting in the soil region dose scenic spot have its own value, and have a fresh vitality to continue renew.Through the detailed analysis on the meaning of scenic area, regional and regional landscape, and summary of the development of regional landscape design ideas and the use of design practices, and comparative studies of outstanding regional landscape works at home and abroad, this paper captures the concrete content of research on regional expression from great depth and width.On this basis, the paper expounds generally meaning, main content, features and affecting factors in theory of regional expression of scenic spot design. Based on the unique scenic resources and the environment, it makes the scenic spot design integrated into naturel environment and respect to the spirit of place by transforming and using historical landscape in physical form, following and inheriting cultural landscape in intangible form. After a thorough analysis of the characteristics of regional expression, the paper summarizes that the regional landscape is effected by natural elements, human factors and social conditions, and lays the foundation for its expression methodology research.The study on methods of regional scenic spot design discusses five important aspects. First of all, it begins with natural environment characteristics and regional culture, and focuses on the performance of regional physical landscape and cultural landscape. It highlights the regional features of place, mining Lingnan folk culture, using landscape elements rationally to form landscape space, shaping landscape artistic conception. At the same time, application of theory to practice, practice feedback that theory.
