This article studies fuel oil consumption of a certain big ship with Diesel Engine propulsion system on the different screw propellers working condition. This paper starts with the analysis of balance of ship energy, gets energy transfer relationship between screw propeller and ship diesel engine, introduces the ship resistance characteristic and the screw propeller propulsion performance, and analyses the matching design of screw propeller with ship diesel engine and the ship navigation capability after matching design. Diesel engine propulsion system performance has been compared with the other propulsion systems.Considering the force and the moment on the hull, propeller and helm, and its interference, this article establishes the ship movement model and calculates the ship resistance of each navigational speed on the different screw propellers working condition.Based on the analysis of diesel engine performance and running zone, according to the result of the above calculation, the paper chooses middle speed engine matching project and low speed engine matching project, and compares the fuel oil consumption of a certain big ship on the different conditions through the theoretical calculation.
