Recent years, rapid urbanization and various thoughts of new architecture have been emerging a profound impact on the development of Chinese Architectural Education. The architectural education located in Southwest Yunnan province is relatively weak and backward because of the geographical facts. It has been in the national education system and continuing to be marginalized status. However, the department of architecture in Kunming University of Science and Technology still survive in the face of adversity and always break the shackles of marginalization, to explore the geographical features and continuous efforts.Mr Zhu Liangwen, a professor in Kunming University of Science and Technology, in this paper we take an example by tracing his teaching course in fifty years, to try to deal with his Regionally Educational Thoughts of Architecture. We will discuss it from three aspects:The first, by Professor Zhu Liangwen's learning experience in Tianjin University and the teaching course in South China Technical Institute, we trace the background of his architectural education and mold the idea of regional awareness.The second, by summing up Professor Zhu Liangwen's subject preparation of architecture in Yunnan Institute of Technology from the beginning to mature stage, we explore his evolving Regionally Educational Thought of Architecture.The third, by Professor Zhu Liangwen's development process and typical case in the area of "production, learning and research", we conclude a combination of three courses—"regional teaching, local research and geographical practice"Ultimately concluded, we summarized his educational thoughts of architecture as:the "openness, pioneering" spirit and geographical "production, learning and research" combined to be the continuous exploration and constant practice.In today's globalization it is an important revelation:we still continue to be marginalized and it is the urgent need to correctly assess the status of Yunnan's Regionally Architectural education, optimizing and improving it. We should have an international view, a pioneering and innovative spirit to continue to adhere to open university. Deepening in the teaching philosophy of modern architectural education, we strengthen the teaching base at the same time and its cooperation with domestic and international academic exchanges between institutions and cultural ties. Under the new policy and the new situation, we need find the advantages to update the traditional area of the school system. With an international perspective to examine our current Regional Educational Thoughts of Architecture in the diverse of the competitive characteristics, we should seek out our own special ways.
