With the increasing demand for high quality of automobile body manufacturing, the automobile body size detection and research on control technology have been attracting more and more attention from industrial and academic entities. As an important part of the automobile bodywork's quality control process, the car body's size manufacturing and detecting technology take a key role in automobile industry. The effective analysis and accurate diagnosis for the sizes of automobiles ensure both the minimization of errors in the car bodywork's size and the most objective basis for specific modifications, thus controlling the process of welding during the car assemble. Being the major steps of the test of automobile body design and manufacturing craftwork, the prototype production of the body-in-white (BIW) is of very important significance for quality control in car manufacturing industry.By measuring a batch of automobiles'body's sizes in the coordinate measuring machine, a large number of measurement points are collected for analysis and calculation of process capability. Process capability is the ratio of the allowable maximal changing range to the normal deviation of the process. The objective is to ensure the extent to which the data are of regularity and that the number of final defective products are below a prescribed level, which will be the basis of further improvement to the manufacturing.The main functions of the system are to collect the data about whole vehicle. The data is then processed as required and sent to personals that need the data and analyze them in the office of 3-coordinates. The use of the software decreases largely the processing time required and is very helpful in obtaining the analysis results. The data processing system mainly acquires and processes various kinds of data and stores the original and processed results into the database. During the analysis of the data, one can read the corresponding data, conduct further computation and output an analysis report as required. The current functions consist of two kinds of calculations:calculations of key points (SC), Body critical control points (BCCP) and measuring points. It can do calculation and statistics of PP and PPK of BCCP, of SC points and of CP, CPK, PP, PPK, average value, and the up-and-down control line, outputting the graphics of IM/R.This dissertation is the project report of the automobile body coordinate measuring data processing system.
