Along with the accelerated process of urbanization, urban transportation issue has become China's major cities face the problem. Road intersection is the intersection of urban roads in urban road network and traffic flow plays an important role. Urban road congestion is often highlighted in urban road intersection, so use of scientific and reasonable traffic control methods, to maximize the improvement of intersection traffic capacity, reduce delays has been the subject of research in the field of transport. Intelligent control technology for traffic control provides a new idea.In this thesis, fuzzy control and genetic algorithms to combine intelligent control technology, with an average delay of a minimum as the target, coordination of urban intersection control and design of the regional intersection hierarchical fuzzy control system to improve traffic capacity of the plane intersection , and the use of simulation software of its control performance is simulated. The specific content and innovative points are as follows:First,a detailed description of the current urban road traffic signals in a controlled manner, the main parameters of traffic signals and the performance indicators, shows a study on urban intersection traffic signal importance.Second, according to the complexity of urban traffic flow and randomness of the features, design a regional intersection hierarchical fuzzy control system. Regional intersection hierarchical fuzzy control system, taking into account the traffic conditions in adjacent intersections, better traffic conditions suitable for complex urban intersection traffic control. At the same time the use of Visual Basic simulation program to prepare for regional intersection of fuzzy control system to achieve rates in different vehicles under the simulation, and with the same environment, the timing of traffic control for comparison. Simulation results show a regional intersection fuzzy control system took into account the situation of the adjacent intersection traffic flow can be more effectively coordinated control of urban intersections.Third, Use Visual Basic development system simulation program is written, on regional intersection fuzzy control system under different traffic conditions are simulated, and with the same traffic environment timing control, fuzzy control is compared. The simulation results show that the regional intersection fuzzy coordinated control system considering adjacent intersection traffic flow situation, can be more effective on the city intersection coordinated control.In this thesis, the research results show that, using the fuzzy coordinated control than the timing control, fuzzy control can adapt the complex traffic environment, can effectively reduce the average delay of vehicles and improve vehicle average passage rate, improve the efficiency and level of modernization of signal control.
