The handling and stability place an important role in the safe of the vehicle and driver. and as an irreplaceable status in the car chassis, which has significant and affection to the performance of handling and stability.Based on the theory of multi-body system dynamics, the front four-link, rear trailing-arm four-link suspension system model of Zhongqi car were established in ADAMS/CAR. The model that thoroughly considered the damping coefficient of shock absorber and the mechanical characteristics of components of bushing, has relatively high precision. By considered the force on the longi-arm, the rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model of rear suspension system was built. Then the kinematics and dynamics analysis of front and rear suspension system was conducted, based on the analysis, obtained the value and the trend of the wheel positioning parameters and other suspension characteristic parameters. The subsystems and the dynamical model of Zhongqi sedan was founded in CARSIM.Next, the structure characteristics was picked out, the different motorcycle type of different vehicle configurations with Zhongqi car emerged. Various vehicles was brought out by change the axle load, center of mass height, the stiffness of performance rod and the stiffness of the spring. The virtual simulation test under typical working condition (pylon course slalom test, steering wheel angle step input test, steering wheel angle pulse input test, returnability test and steady static circular test) was performed. According to the National Evaluation Index and Evaluation Method on the Vehicle Handling and Stability, the result was appraised, and the sensitive of parameters was discussed.This research concentrated on the virtual design and exploration for vehicle suspension and the whole system. Through further study, the relation between evaluation index and vehicle structural characteristics parameters would be obtained. Thus, vehicle handling and stability, the active safety, the cost of design, manufacture and test during the design period will be improved and the circle of a new product face market will be shortcut.
