Electric power information collection system is used to realize the functions such as power data automatically acquisition, detection of metering anomalies and power quality, analysis and management of electricity. With electric power market developing and reforming intensively, the focus of electric power enterprise will be transformed from electricity production into power supply management. It is an urgent issue to establish the electric information acquisition system to meet more requirements on function, monitor, data, safety and real-time control.Electric power information acquisition system is chosen as the study object in this paper. The relevant techniques and communication methods of acquisition system is studied and analyzed. The existing acquisition system of Huaibei City is discussed by combining with its actual conditions. The necessity to build acquisition system for Huaibei City is stressed and one of the key points in this paper is to design logical architecture, physical architecture and software architecture. The core service of acquisition system is to collect information that acquired from six major categories of electric power users completely and accurately. Based on the collection information, multi-dimensional analysis is completed precisely on time in order to support auxiliary service, renewable energy, step-electricity price and interactive service. The operation of system will promote the development of electric power company.The demands of communication network for acquisition system are analyzed in detail. Aiming at EPON techniques applied in electric power industry, the scheme for communication channel construction is given in this article, which practically demonstrates the feasibility of mentioned theory and application model. The proposed system conforms to the developed direction and demands of national electric power market modernization, which is advanced and practical compared with other similar systems. In actual operation, the proposed system achieves preferable effect and has extensive prospects.
