Resources Survey Of Cultivars In Wuhan And Gardens Research Of Winterswweet

Wintersweet(Chimonanthus praecox) is a Chineses winter-flowering endemic plant endemic with high ornamental and economic value which has a long history of cultivation. However, the whole species were uncertain, the application forms were single,and there were no systetnatic theoretic guide on the programming of the wintersweet gardens.Based on complete survey and classification of wintersweet cultivar resources in Wuhan, analyzes the feasibility and the elementary theory and the methods on the programming of the wintersweet gardens in order to provide more foundation for wide application of wintersweet. This paper found out that:1.Through systematic classification of wintersweet cultivar resources in Wuhan from December to March in 2008 and 2009,89 cultivars were recorded in detail, including 13 Chimonanthus praecox Concolor Group,39 Chimonanthus praecox Intermedius Group and 37 Chimonanthus praecox Patens Group. And there were 47 new cultivars among them.Identification key to 89 wintersweet cultivars in Wuhan was compiled according to the diversity characters, and the characteristics of resources and application was summerized.2.Based on analysis morphological characters of wintersweet cultivars and the previous studies, unifies and standardizes the characteristics and description language of wintersweet varieties.3.In this dissertation,the writer researches the origin and the development of the wintersweet gardens, analyzes the current situation of the wintersweet gardens and the feasibility of the wintersweet garden construction. Focusing on the classification and application of the wintersweet, making full use of the functions and characteristies of the wintersweet gardens, the writer, on the basis of the botanieal garden thcory, puts forward the programming theory of the wintersweet gardens.4.This dissertation explains detailedly the classification and functions of the wintersweet gardens and offers the elementary theory on the programming of the wintersweet gardens based on the relevant theory on the design and aesthetic representation of gardens. This will fill the gap that, so far, there has been no systetnatic theoretic guide on the programming of the wintersweet gardens.
