| Forest fire with the most widely occurrence, great damage and difficult to be dealt with inthe world is classified as one of the eight natural disasters by United Nations Food andAgriculture Organization (FAO). The effects of it on the development of economic, ecologicalsafety of territory and the steady of politics are significant. China is one of the countries thatwith the most serious forest fire disaster happening. The loss of economic from this kind ofdisaster was almost hundred billion RMB during the last50years. However, fire break forestbelt has been put into an important position and research field now because of the advantagesof high efficiency and multiple and long run effects of the fire break belt as it has been turnedinto the active and productive type from the passive and consumption one compared with otherfire protection measures.This study established the relevant technical standards on efficiency width and managementof fire break forest belt based on the characteristics of potential behaviors of fire in Xishanforest farm. The quantitative indexes of this kind of belt were given with analyzing thegeographical features and natural condition in this place. Considering the combustible matter,potential fire behavior of forest, geographical features and natural condition, fire resistant treespecies, afforestation technologies in the forest farm, the spatial pattern of biological forest beltwas optimized with GIS. It should be to construct fire break forest belts with7038.2m and13448.3m in mountain ridge and in forest edge area respectively according to the researchresults. As a result, the risk of large area forest fire would be reduced when this region wouldbe divided into17single unions with different size assisted with the two planting belts and theexisting belt of road fire forest belt. |
