Forest fire is one of the eight disasters which causes direct economic loss of trees, indirect economic loss in the forest and loss of forest ecological resources. On average,774forest fires were broke out each year in Jiangxi province from1986to1995, while447fires were broke out each year from1996to2005, and more than1000forest fires were broke out in2004. Studying the law of forest fires is meaningful for preventing forest fires, reducing loss and protecting forest resources.According to the analysis of forest fires in recent21years in Jiangxi province, from selection of climate, fire frequency and acreage, we got results as following:Before2003, A high-incidence period appeared every4years, but after2003, forest fires increased rapidly, especially substantial increase because of high temperature and drought in2004and frost and snow disaster in2008.Forest fires mostly happen in winter and spring, then in autumn. It’s easy to make fire in winter for less rainfall, dry weather and strong wind. While spring is ploughing season, the farmers burn the grass to manure fields, and people visit graves at Qingming Festival in April, so both productive and artificial fire source are main reason for forest fires in spring. And in autumn, the clear and crisp climate, large amount of evaporation and low water content in plants, the combustible materials are arid, forest fires may break out at any moment once there’s a fire source.Forest fire space distribution, Ganzhou prefecture has the highest frequency, then Jiujiang and Shangrao prefecture. Broad-leaved forest is mainly in the south, the combustible materials in the forest is in the great load capacity situation; while coniferous forest is mainly in the northern part which are fat and easy burned. The frequency, affected area and economic loss are in proportion to the average temperature and maximum air temperature, the higher the temperature, the more forest fires, the bigger affected area, the more economic loss; but in contrast to rainfall and raining days, the more rainfall and raining days, the less forest fires, the smaller affected area and less economic loss.
