Phoebe sheareri and Phoebe chekiangensis as experimental materials, effects of thedifferent substrate compositions and fertilizer formulations treatments on Phoebe sheareriand Phoebe chekiangensis container seedlings was studied in this paper, aimed at providinga scientific basis on Phoebe sheareri and Phoebe chekiangensis container seedlingscultivation technology in the future. By the substrate compositions that agricultural andforestry waste as raw material,and different proportions about NPK fertilizationexperiments, analyzed the impacts of different treatments on two species growthmorphology (height, trunk diameter, main root length, height to diameter ratio, trunkdiameter to root length ratio), the accumulation of biomass (aboveground fresh weight,root fresh weight, aboveground dry weight, root dry weight) and physiological(chlorophyll, soluble sugar, soluble protein, root vigour) characteristics carefully. The mainresults are as follows:1. Sawdust, litterfall, drug residue of three kinds of agricultural and forestry wastes asraw materials, combined with the three kinds of commonly used substrate of peat, perlite,vermiculite, after fermentation and disinfection treatment, they were formulated into ninekinds of substrate compositions by different volume ratio, garden soil as contrast, on thecondition of different substrate compositions, by comparing the two species growingindices, peat︰perlite︰sawdust︰litterfall=2︰2︰4︰2was selected as the best substratecomposition of Phoebe sheareri, secondly, was peat︰perlite︰sawdust︰litterfall=2︰2︰2︰4, peat︰perlite︰sawdust︰litterfall=3︰3︰3︰1was selected as the bestsubstrate composition of Phoebe chekiangensis, secondly, was peat︰perlite︰sawdust︰litterfall=3︰2︰3︰2. Determining and analyzing the physical and chemical properties,the result shows that they have excellent properties, can meet Phoebe sheareri and Phoebechekiangensis container seedling growth dynamic demand, and promote the rapid andhealthy growth of container seedling.2. By the different proportions about NPK fertilization experiment, from No.1to8were different fertilizer formulations, No.9were the common slow-release fertilizer in themarket, No.10as contrast, only using water, on the condition of different fertilizer formulations treatments, determining and analyzing the two species growinbg indices, theresult shows that different fertilization treatments of Phoebe sheareri container seedlinghave significant influence on trunk diameter, ratio of height to diameter, root length,aboveground fresh weight, root fresh weight, dry weight of root and4physiologicalindices, and for Phoebe chekiangensis, they are height, trunk diameter, root length,diameter to root ratio, aboveground fresh weight, root fresh weight, aboveground dryweight and4physiological indices. By comprehensive comparison of various indices, No.4N2P1K2(N5g per plant, P2O51.5g per plant, K2O2g per plant) was selected as the bestfertilizer formulation of Phoebe sheareri container seedling cultivation, for Phoebechekiangensis, was No.2N2P1K1(N5g per plant, P2O51.5g per plant, K2O1g per plant).
