Objective: Through observing the effect of Jiajian Chuanxiongcha tiaosan decoction in treating primary trigeminal neuralgia, to provides a definite effect, non-toxic side effects, economic and practical treatment method for primary trigeminal neuralgia (PTN) patients, and discusses their action mechanism.Methods: 60 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia patients were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group and control group. the treatment group was treated with Jiajian Chuanxiongchatiaosan decoction, while the control group was treated with Carbamazepine, After the two groups treated for 30 days, effect was observed.Results: The total effective rate of clinic is 90.0% and 66.7% in the treatment group and in the control group respectively,There is statistically significant difference (P<0.05).After treatment, Jiajian Chuanxiongchatiaosan decoction is significantly reduce pain points (P<0.01);And the total effective rate of TCM symptoms is 93.33% and 60.00% in the treatment group and in the control group respectively,There is statistically significant difference (P<0.05). After treatment, Jiajian Chuanxiongchatiaosan decoction is significantly reduce TCM symptoms points (P<0.01).Conclusion: Jiajian Chuanxiongchatiaosan decoction is effective in treating primary trigeminal neuralgia, and it can obviously improve the clinical symptoms, improve life quality without toxic side effects, therefore having the further research, development and application value.
