Objective:By the way of the clinical observation on correlated medical biochemical indicator tests and analysis, for the patients with the disease of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, who accepted acupuncture intervention based on the drugs, probe the efficacy of electro-acupuncture intervention combined with drugs and part of the characteristics of time-effect relation, and provide the clinical evidence for summarizing the role of electric acupuncture therapy. Methods:Sixty patients with the disease of diabetic peripheral neuropathy were randomly divided into two groups, but there were fifty-eight had complete material,28cases in the electro-acupuncture intervention group,30 cases in the drug comparison group. The primary acupuncture points are Zusanli, Sanyijiao, Yanglinquan, Hegu,Quchi, Pishu,Shenshu, Taixi. The XS-998B electro-acupuncture equipment was used to treat the patients, and the frequency was 2Hz-10Hz-100Hz. Take out the needles after 30 minutes, once every other day, three times a week for 2 months. Drugs treatment comparision:using glucophage taking in or combined with insulin to control blood glucose, changing the drugs dose depending on the patiets'condition, once a day,7 times every course, treating continuously 2 months. The aspects of clinical symptoms score, neuropathy score, blood glucose (FBG, PBG), and the drug adverse reactions were observed before treatment and after treatmen for 20 days,40 days and 60 days respectively. In accordance with the book Chinese latest herbs clinical reseash principle(to try),2002, edited by zheng youyu, to evaluate the efficacy, analysis the dates with SPSS17.0.Result:(1) Both therapies could reduce the patients'clinical symptom scores, and the significant difference of the points was found between pretreatment and posttreatment (P<0.05 or P< 0.01). The electro-acupuncture group was better than the control group at effect-acting time and during the courses (P<0.05); As the time went on, the integral decline of the symptom score becacme more obviously, but at 40 days to 60 days period, the curve of the time-effect relation was flat, and the curative effect has no significant progress, and the curative effect has no significant progress.(2) Both therapies could reduce the neuropathy scores, but the effect-acting time was slower than the clinical symptoms;Compared two groups,it found that the electro-acupuncture group was better than the control group at effect-acting period and descending amplitude of scores (P<0.05); the curative effect increased along with the course, even at 60 days, the neuropathy scores maintained (P< 0.05)(3) Through comparing two groups' total effectiveness, it found that electro-acupuncture group was obviously better than the control group after treatment of 40 days (P<0.05), and it kept in the leading position until 60 days. Both groups'curve of the time-effect relation showed both groups have better efficacy at 20 days to 40 days. After treatments of 40 days, the rising amplitudes became slow, and they approximated the terrace. There was no statistical significance of the total effectiveness between the treatment of 60 days and 40 days (P> 0.05)(4) Both therapies could obviously reduce the fasting blood sugar and postprandial glucose levels. Blood sugar was controlled effectively within 20 days in treatment, and up to 60 days, both groups were still kept in good levels, with no significant difference (P>0.05)(5) The electro-acupuncture group had lower adverse drug reaction than control group (P < 0.05). It shows that the electro-acupuncture intervention can effectively reduce the incidence of drug side effects, reduce adverse reactions, and improve the quality of the patient's life.Conclusion:Electro-acupuncture intervention treatment can improve patients'systemic symptom and neuropathy signs significantly, regulate blood sugar, and reduce the glucose-lowering drug's adverse reactions. Its intervention role has the basic feature of time-effect relation; however, different observation index can have different time-effect feature.
