Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of SK4 in hepatocellular carcinoma, breast carcinoma and thyroid carcinoma.Materials and Methods: The expression of SK4 in 50 cases of HCC and 20 cases of para-carcinoma liver tissues, 41cases of breast carcinoma and 20 cases of para-carcinoma breast tissues, and 50 cases of HCC and 20 cases of para-carcinoma thyroid tissues was studied by immunohistochemistry assay.Result: The expression positive rate of SK4 in hepatocellular carcinoma, breast carcinoma and thyroid carcinoma (68.0%,78.6%,73.3%) were obviously higher than those in the para-carcinoma liver, breast, thyroid tissues(40.0%,41.2%,33.3%). In HCC and breast cancer the expression positive rate of SK4 in the differentiation degree(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ) were 30.0%,73.3%,80.0% and 58.3%,75.0%,100%, In breast cancer and thyroid cancer the expression positive rate of SK4 in the LNM~+ and LNM—were 53.8%,89.6% and 40.0%,90.0%. In breast cancer expression positive rate of SK4 in the ER~+/PR~+,ER~—/PR~—, and ER~—/PR~+ or ER~+/PR—were 94.7%,44.4%,78.6%. The expression of SK4 was significantly associated with VEGF and ERK(p<0.05).Conclusion: The expression of SK4 was increased in HCC, breast cancer and thyroid carcinoma. In different cancer The expression of SK4 may be related with differentiation, lymph node metastasis, and hormone level. There was a relation between SK4, VEGF and Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK. The study about SK4 blockers for diagnosis and treatment of cancer provides a new idea SK4 might be useful to diagnosis and prognosis of the cancer, and will become a new therapeutic breakthrough.
