Clinical Observation Of Electro-acupuncture And Catgut Implantation At Acupoints On Simple Obesity

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical of electro-acupuncture and catgut implantation at acupoints with diet on simple obesity and compare the difference.MethodsSixty cases of simple obesity were randomly divided into two groups(30 cases one group), treated with catgut implanting and electro-acupuncture treatment, one month for one period,compare the effects after two months. Observe the body weight, body mass index(BMI), waistline, hip, percentage of body fat, lipid before and after treatment, SPSS 13.0 sofeware was performed in the statistical analysis.Results1. After treatment, the body weight, BMI, waistline, hip of the two groups were descended (P<0.05), the percentage of body, TC, TG, LDL were obviously descended and the HDL was obviously increased(P <0.01).2. There was remarkably statistical significance between catgut implantation at acupoints group and electro-acupuncture group on the body weight and BMI (P< 0.05), but there was no statistical significance between the two groups on the waistline, hip, percentage of body fat, TC, TG, LDL and HDL.3.After 2 courses of treatment, there were a total of 29 patients in the catgut implantation at acupoints group:3 were clinically recovered,13 were very effective,10 were effective and 3 were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 89.65%; there were a total of 28 patients in the electro-acupuncture group:2 were clinically recovered,13 were very effective,11 were effective and 2 were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 92.85%. The results in the two groups were analyzed by the Radit test, and was found that there was no statistical significance between the two groups (P> 0.05), the total effective rate was tested by the Chi-square test and there was no statistical significance found between the two groups.ConclusionElectro-acupuncture and catgut implantation at acupoints are both the effective treatments on simple obesity,and there is no statistical significance on the total effect. The two methods can both improve the body weight, BMI, waistline, hip, percentage of body fat, regulate the lipid positively, decrease TC, TG, LDL and increase HDL. Electro-acupuncture is better than catgut implantation at acupoints on improving the body weight and BMI, The reason may be that electro-acupuncture can maintain the necessary amount of stimulation per day,but the time between catgut implantation at acupoints is too long to a certain amount of stimulation, and there was no statistical significance in the other obesity index. Rational diet,exercise are helpful to improving the effective of losing weight, Both two methods have advantages while the patients can choose suitable treatment according to their own circumstances.
