Research On The Relationship Among The College Students' Locus Of Control, Proactive Coping And Career Maturity

With the rapidly economic development of china and the fierce competition in the society, Social employment patterns have changed dramatically as the market economy reforms, which brought a huge employment pressure for the graduates' students. To investigate the relationship among the Career Maturity, Proactive coping and Locus of Control can make us get more information about the characteristic of college student's career development, which guide the college students to find out the appropriate career life. At the same time, we also expect that find out the methods how to promote the ability of the student's decision-making.In this study, we investigated college student career maturity and its relationships to proactive coping and locus of control. We selected 1227 college students of four universities in Henan Province. Every student completed the following measures: Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale, the proactive coping scale of college students and the psychologicalLocus of control scale. The results into the following after the data were analyzed:(1) There is a significant family origin difference in career maturity.(2) Grade difference was found in career maturity as indexed by discretion and pro-activeness.(3) Family income difference and Professional satisfaction difference was found in the Psychological control source and career maturity.(4) There was significant correlation between career maturity and proactive coping; the student's career maturity was remarkable related with the psychological control source.(5) Both the two constitute of "inside control "and "chance" of the Locus of control in college students can predict the career maturity positively; the goals set of proactive coping can forecast the career maturity positively; the inside control of psychological control source can forecast the proactive coping positively.(6) The goals set of college student's proactive coping have mediation effects only between Locus of control and Career maturity.
