Objective Attachment is a kind of emotional connection or close relationshipbetween the individual and others. It mainly developed in childhood. With thedevelopment of individual, attachment gradually developed into internal model and hadpotential impact on the individual’s lifetime. Moreover, attachment has relativestability.Different environment and experience will lead to different attachmentstyles. The point that different attachment styles will have different effects onindividual’ cognition, emotion, behavior had been verified by numerousstudies.Throughout the research at home and abroad, few scholars study the influenceof college student’s adult attachment to locus of control, general self-efficacy andcoping style. Our research is to combine the four to provide theoretical guidance formental health education of college students. Methods We surveyed samples one (198subjects) by Experiences in CloseRelationships Inventory and Internality, Powerful Others and Chance Questionnaire toexplore the relationship between college student’s adult attachment and locus ofcontrol. We surveyed samples two (217subjects) by Experiences in Close RelationshipsInventory,General Self-efficacy Scale and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire toexplore the relationship between college student’s adult attachment,self-efficacy andcoping style. Results The distribution of college student’s attachment type was not balanced, theproportion of dismissing type, security type, fearful type, preoccupied type were43.9%,31.3%,21.7%,3.1%respectively.Attachment avoidance correlated negativelywith internality(P<0.01), and positively with chance and powerful others(P<0.01).There was a positive correlation between attachment anxiety andchance, powerful others(P<0.01).Attachment avoidance had prediction oninternality(P<0.01).Attachment anxiety had prediction on chance and powerfulothers(P<0.01). There was a negative correlation between attachment avoidance andpositive coping(P<0.05),while positive correlation exsited not only in attachmentavoidance, anxiety and negative coping(P<0.01) but also in general self-efficacy andpositive coping(P<0.01).Attachment avoidance and anxiety, general self-efficacy canpredict coping style effectively(P<0.01).Self-efficacy played vital role in mediating therelationship between attachment avoidance and positive coping. Conclusion The four kinds of college student’s adult attachment from high to lowfollowed by dismissing type, security type, fearful type, preoccupied type. Collegestudents’ adult attachment correlated with locus of control and had significant effectson locus of control.College students’ adult attachment correlated with self-efficacy andcoping style.Self-efficacy served a medium in attachment avoidance affecting positivecoping.
