The Invidual Investigate From 1912-1937

From 1912-1937, China was in great trouble both aggression and civil war. Especially, since incident of 1931.9.18, Japan invaded and loot the whole northeast China. When, northwest got the more important status in the country.Unfortunately, people had little intimate knowledge of the northwest. So, people got the importance in the natural resources and society culture of northwest, they decided to investigate. Anyway, both Beiyang and Nanjing government had no financial resources power to achieve; by the same token, some scientific connection could not do it.To take account of this reason, many intellectuals investigate by themselves without any support.There are four chapters. The first one elaborates the achievements and shortcomings by learned men's discuss of Qing Dynasty. They left us a lot of fruit, but both substance and method have tack. To substance, they just studied history and geography, while to method, they only got textual research. However, their studied fruit could receive and carry on by intellectuals in Republic of China.The second chapter said the background of investigation. The first section expounds the general situation of northwest by nature and society. The second part reviews the political affairs and ideological revolution how to influence our inspector.The third part is the chief chapter. Commentary on inspectors' career, dignity, and the reason to inspect. Then, the content of investigation elaborate by fourteen section:landscape, resources and environment, historic evolution, domestic affairs and foreign affairs, economy and financial condition, national defense, race and religion, culture and education, social custom.In the fourth chapter, we comment on achievements of specters and investigation. Commentary 1, the specters made the great individual fulfillment, we can learned their spirit and character. Commentary 2, both achievements and shortcomings are the content of commentary.
