China’s twentieth Century 40’s is the last stage in the period of Republic of China, a group of mind patriotic ambition art experts have rushed to the vast western region investigation,sketch, creation. Among them Han Leran, Stuart Wu Zuoren, Joe, Sun Zongwei and others allpainting in the West in creating a number of watercolours, this paper focuses on thewestbound and their works are analyzed: Han Leran’s watercolor show multiple ethnic style, he also innovative watercolor and oil painting copy mural; Si Tu Jo traveled all over Xinjiang in Xinjiang, his painting is national style panorama; Wu Zuoren and Sun Zongwei the two westernborn painter was shocked by the Dunhuang murals, began Chinese paintings, especially after Wu Zuoren in the China painting knowledge reached a considerable height. The article finally summarizes the impact westbound on the painter, and Han Leran, Stuart Wu Zuoren, Joe, Sun Zongwei et al. Westbound art practice for China modern watercolor significance.
