Piano training is crucial to early childhood development. Through the stimulations of the skins and nerves of finger tips, piano training enhances children's brain functioning and intellectual development. It also helps children develop socially through increasing the opportunity of interacting with teachers and peers. 3 to 6 year-old children has become the major population of piano training. As more and more pre-school children engage in piano training, there are issues and problems emerge. This paper focuses on these issues and problems that have been discovered in piano education with 3 to 6 year-old children by exploring the nature of these issues through developmental psychology theory and social ecological theory. The study represented in this paper looks at the interaction between teachers and children in piano lessons. It examined several variables: how teachers interact with children in different ages (3-4 year old, 4-5 year old, 5-6 year old) throughout a piano class; how teachers use piano/music to help children cope with stress and anxiety; the influence of parents'presence in class, the interaction between children and their peers during piano class; the social factors that affect children in the process of piano education; the future of music psychology of children. The purpose of this study is to call the attention of piano teachers, parents and scholars to be aware of the importance of piano education in the development of children's psychology. This paper provides empirical evidence of positivity of music psychology and contributes to the theoretical framework through scientific method.
