"Degree" is an important part of language expressions in Mandarin Chinese and dialects. This thesis takes Hunan Yuanjiang dialect as the object of study. Based on the semantic category of "the degree", it makes a deep study on the degree category of Yuanjiang dialect through observing.Good achievements have been made in linguistics field on representation method of "degree", pronunciation and overlapped structures of Yuanjiang dialect, while the degree category system of Yuanjiang dialect has not been established. By using the methods of field study, analysis and induction, as well as description and explanation, this paper mainly discusses the expressional forms of "degree" of XA patterns of Descriptive Adjectives, Pronoun, Adverb and several kinds of special Complements, so as to establish a degree category system of Yuanjiang dialect.The thesis consists of eight parts:Introduction:A review of present researches on Yuanjiang dialect; a survey of researches on representation methods of "degree"; an introduction of phonetic system Yuanjiang dialect, as well as the contents, methods and significance of this research.Chapter One:Introducing the degree category system of Yuanjiang dialect, based on the representation method of "degree" in Mandarin Chinese.Chapter Two:Analyzing the structural features, semantic features and syntax functions of XA patterns of Descriptive Adjectives attached by prefix in Yuanjiang dialect.Chapter Three:Analyzing the structural features, semantic features and syntax functions of overlapped structures of Descriptive Adjectives in Yuanjiang dialect.Chapter Four:Analyzing the semantic meanings and syntax functions of several kinds of Pronouns referring to "degree" in Yuanjiang dialect.Chapter Five:Analyzing the semantic meanings and syntax functions of Adverbs referring to "degree" in the Yuanjiang dialect.Chapter Six:Analyzing several special kinds of Complements referring to "degree" in Yuanjiang dialect.Chapter Seven:Conclusion. Summarizing different expressional forms of "degree" in Yuanjiang dialect and research methods of this thesis; pointing out its shortcomings as well.
