Death is an inevitable stage in one's life, as well as one of the eternal themes in the literature. Children's Literature, as both a special literature branch and art style, has its own characteristics. First of all, we can find it natural to put "Death" into one common theme of the Children's Literature; Secondly, Children's Literature with "Death", is different from other literature on aspects of its unique features and values, owing to the distinctiveness of the reader groups' age and their aesthetic experience.Based on the above two points of possibility, this thesis is tried to study Death by means of discussing the way of expression, narrative characteristics and values in Chinese Children's Literature, which altogether is conducive to find new writing ideas about the theme of Death in Children's Literature, or even just a single spark. In the first place, the introduction, theoretically, discusses the possibility of the existence and significance of Death in Children's Literature, and selects typical classics from the works of Death to support the objective reality that the theme of Death does exist, narrating the history of the theme of Death in Chinese Children's Literature. In the second place, in order to prove that Children's Literature can also take on the description of form in general literature, the second part plays a role in dividing Death into 3 forms—suicide, accidental death and natural death, which are respectively compared with the general literature, for the purpose of reflecting the characteristics of Children's Literature. In line with the current situation of this topic, this part draws out the form of the aged's death that maybe ignored, and then probes into its special significance and unique value. Third, Death, as one kind of writing themes in literature, has different narrative characteristics with other topics in Children's Literature. Delivering the fact of life to children with intelligence and true can encourage their growth in health. As is known to all, children are in the high-speed operation period when they have been experiencing various tests in their physical and mental development, among which the test for death is undoubtedly the most serious in children's mind, so works of Death have been deeply rooted in children's development history. Admittedly, Death is a selection approach of extreme life. As for that, Children's Literature writing, compared with general literature, has a lot of similarities and differences in narrative rhythm, especially in aspects of the brief narration to death process, the broken narration to death mood, the moderate exploration to death meaning. On this basis, writers preferably show the narrative function of Death. Finally, Children's Literature, created by adult writers and designed for children is one literary category with a certain chance that both adult writers and children are beneficial from a necessary part of life—Death. For one thing, adult writers represent death and aftertaste life with their life experience and understanding. For another, children understand death, touch death and solve a dilemma through reading, and then go through the life force's gift with authors to achieve the growth of spiritual life. In addition,a part of adult readers make up a special group, who act as both writers with their life experience and understanding, and children with their cherishment for childhood.As is shown above, we can see the main body of the thesis. The thesis makes an analysis of works in ways of scrutinize and comparison, and then try to find some methods worthy of reference with its background in classic works. As far as the thesis is concerned, Chinese Children's Literature has made great progress in selecting materials, which keeps a watchful eye on the reality changes and explores a fresh life of children. In terms of presentation skills, Chinese writers greatly focus their attention on the layers of conflict in reality, which makes life-topic originally heavy more serious. In this level, nature, devotion and warmth existing in classic works, which are also what to go after in Chinese Children's Literature, have decreased.This thesis basically achieved its expected results at the beginning of the proposal, and added up a chapter "Death is a certain opportunity of the growth of a writer in spirit". In this regard, the value of death is discussed in two aspects of the author and the reader, which facilitates the theme of Death more fully. This thesis is not at all perfect, with its flaw lacking of a prospective study on the life-education's significance in children's education. The author, hopes to make up the above-mentioned loss by means of the writing and efforts of this research in other aspects.
