With China's rapid economic development and its opening-up policy to the world, many companies want to seize the international market. Instructions have become an essential approach for people to know the products. The translation of instructions plays an important role during this process. It has become a part of translation studies that can not be ignored.Because of the particularity of the instructions, there are many problems existing in the translation. For instance, the translation is not precise enough; the translation is not veritable, etc. Some researchers pay more attention to the instructions studies in specific field, such as cosmetic instructions, machine instructions, medicine instructions, etc. But few researchers systematically study the common features and translation strategies of all kinds of products instructions. Some researchers have already noticed quite a lot of problems in the translation and offered some useful solutions. But many studies are based on experiential analysis. Because of this, it is necessary to study the instructions translation systematically and theoretically. The Skopostheorie is a relatively new translation theory. It is developed by Hans Vemeer. The theory focuses on the choice of different functions. This undoubtedly can compensate the insufficient of traditional translation studies and thus provides a new perspective for translation studies. This thesis consists of five parts, namely the Introduction, Chapter one, Chapter two, Chapter three and Conclusion. Firstly, I introduce the reason and value of the study. The second part is literature review; I introduce the definition of the Skopostheorie, the development and the core features, and then analyze the current study of instructions translation in China. The third part, I introduce the definition of instructions and its stylistic features, syntactic features and textual features. The fourth part is the applications of Skopostheorie in instructions translation. I put the Skopostheorie into the application of instructions translation with many practical examples and sum up the brief and methods for the translation and then I analyze errors existing in the instructions translation and make some suggests. The fifth part is conclusion. Of course, every theory has its limitations. The Skopostheorie is developing all the time and I believe that the Skopostheorie can perfect itself in the future. The thesis puts various types of instructions as a whole and analyzes their common features, and then the thesis lists the instructions translation methods under the guidance of the Skopostheorie. I hope my thesis can provide some references to the translation studies and drive the development of translation studies.
