Experimental Study About Relationship Of Personality Factors And Behaviors Of Telling, Detecting Lies

Lying is one of the most common behavior in human's commnication and exchanges life. In abroad, the professional study of telling and detecting lies has been nearly sixty year. In the aspectes of lying motivation, lying characteristics and detecting lies, the studys have made abundant achievements. But for people to lie and detect lie, the underlying causes of differences in behavioral characteristics and accuracy of detect lies, the reason are still not conclusive. In this research, Qingnian Zhongguo Personality Scale(QZPS) select a different personality characteristics of college students as subjects, to disucss the Chinese college students telling lie and detecting lies behaviors.This paper includes four three experiment series, all the personality factors involved are already Chinese personality inventory based on the personality factors.In study 1, sunmmaried the Chinese college students' behaviors when they telling lies. In stduy 2, personality differences from the perspective of this paper, we probed into the behavioral characteristics of lying and QZPS seven personality factors. In study 3, analyzed which personality factors are relate to people's correct rate in the detecting lie behavior. In study 4,analyzed and discussed the correct rates of detecting lies in the 2 part and 4 case, part 1: the liar and the detector have no significant and have significant difference in personality characteristics.part 2:the liar's and the detector's gender is same and different.The following results were obtained:(1)Relative to the truth situation, when Chinese college students lying their behaviors of movement,sound and words are significantly different.(2)The behavior of Chinese college students demonstrated in the lying behavior characteristics generally consistent with the findings from abroad, but in the hand movements, tone, presentation of results with foreign words are different.(3)Lying the behavioral characteristics demonstrated by correlation with the personality factors, including extraversion factors and liars watching each other's time, the statement added words and the words of the amendment acts and eyebrow lift, frown the frequency with positive correlation; act pitch accent and style factors and the emergence of semantic repetition frequency of negative correlation with the number of additional amendments to a positive correlation;emotional factor scores and body movements, hand movements, eyebrow lift and frown, and treble and the frequency of stress a positive association.(4)The correct rate of lie-detecting is relate to personality factors. In which the extraversion personality factors and interpersonal factors positive correlated with the correct rate of lie-detecting.the emotional factors negatively correlated with the correct rate of lie-detecting.(5)The similarity of the liar and the detecor has significant impact to the detecor's correct rate of lie-detecting.In the case of liar and detector's personality characteristics were not different,the decteror's correct rate is significantly higher than the correct rate which the liar and detector's personality characteristics were significantly different.(6)Gender of liar and detecor has no significant effect to the correct rate of lie-detecting.(7)When the individual, with different personality characteristics, was detecting lies there is no obvious response bias.
