French theorist Jean Baudrillard (1929-2007) was one of the foremost inte llectual figures of the present age whose work combines philosophy, social the ory, and an idiosyncratic cultural metaphysics that reflects on key events of ph enomena of the epoch. Baudrillard commented on some of the most salient cul tural and sociological phenomena of the contemporary era, including the erasur e of the distinctions of gender, race, and class that structured modern societies in a new postmodern consumer, media, and high tech society; and the impact of new media, information, and cybernetic technologies in the creation of a q ualitatively different social order, providing fundamental mutations of human an d social life.The thesis is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter, through extensive literature research, the author summa rizes various theoretical sources which help Baudrillard formed his theory of Semiology, and meanwhile, the author elaborates on this theory in a chronological order.In the second chapter, the cord idea of Baudrillard's theory of semiology is detailed explained by the author, and its connotation is discussed in a critic al sense.In the third chapter, by observing and studying on communication field, it is easily noticeable that Baudrillard's theory of semiology have influences the communication science deeply, not only with its freshly new vocabulary but also has expanded the perspective in perceiving new social phenomenons in the realm of communication science.In the forth and last chapter, the author comprehensively summarizes the thesis by evaluates Baudrillard's semiology and its influence on communicatio n science.
