Sino-Japanese war is an important part of the anti-fascist world war. During that period, China gained the support and assistance from many anti-fascist countries and their people throughout the world. Among them, the National Government mostly turned to the United States which gave the most aid to China. This paper mainly discusses America's attitude towards the Sino-Japanese war, which is changed from "non-intervention" to limited cooperation, then to close alliance during the Pacific Ocean War, and the process of providing aid by the U.S. to China in this very historical period. It also analyzes the conflicts and divergence between the two countries on the lend-lease assistance caused by their differences of strategy interests as well as the final resolution of these problems. The paper is composed of four parts, elaborating on the historical background of the Lend-Lease assistance to China, U.S. government giving and increasing aid in the early days of the Pacific Ocean War, and the disputes and conflicts on the lend-lease assistance issue arisen at the later stage of the war. The specific contents are as follows:First part:The full-scale war of aggression launched by Japan against China destroyed peace in the Far East and severely harmed America's benefit. Facing powerful enemies, the U.S., considering its own decision atmosphere and immediate needs, held a negative attitude--"non-intervention". But with the escalation of war against China, the U.S. began to change its attitude to safeguard its rights and interests by taking sanctions against Japan and providing assistance to China, and offered loans to China several times.Second part:Before passing the "lend-lease program", the United States assigned its administrative assistant Curie to China to investigate the situation of Sino-Japanese war. As Japanese expansion to the Southeast Asian and military alliance formed by fascist Germany, Italy and Japan, the U.S. attached more importance to the War of Resistance against Japan, and began to increase financial and military assistance to China.Third part:After the Pacific Ocean War broke out, allying with China, the U.S. began to receive the obligations to support and aid the national government actively so as to improve China's international status. But the American Strategy of "Asia Inferior to Europe" still existed, which would inevitably cause the Sino-US arguments and divergence on lend-lease assistance to China.Fourth part:In the later part of the Pacific War, under the name of wartime alliance, the differences of strategy interests, historical and cultural traditions, values as well as strength between China and the U.S. brought about many conflicts and divergence on the lend-lease assistance issue, which would impact their allied relationship to a certain extent.
