The employment interview is one of the essential ways for interviewers to select desirable talents since it determines the future development of the recruiting companies. With the ever-growing development of economic and cultural globalization, the employment interview has been no longer held in just a single cultural background. Culture, an important factor in the development of society, influences and limits the social behavior of human beings. Therefore, there must be some cultural differences in the employment interviews between Chinese state-owned companies and foreign-funded companies, which most of the job applicants are likely to ignore. This study makes a qualitative research on the differences of Chinese and Western employment interviews from the cross-cultural perspective. In detail, mainly based on Hofstede's cultural values, and supplemented by the media information, interviewing, and semi-structure questionnaire, the study explains the Chinese-foreign cultural influences on the employment interviews and the consequent differences. At the same time, this study also suggests the cultural changes and cultural tendency of the employment interviews. The data analysis shows that the employment interviews of Chinese state-owned companies have higher power distance and higher uncertainty avoidance, and tend to be more collectivistic and more masculine than those of foreign-funded companies. Besides, influenced by Chinese culture and Western culture, different cultural factors in these two kinds of employment interviews are inclined to experience cultural blending in China.
