| In the 1980s, Howard Gardner proposed The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Based on the contributions of biology, psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy and pedagogy, it advocated the point of view about "intelligent diversification", breaking the then inertial views for intelligence, and induced tremendous responses from the education field. In many countries, more and more educational researchers studied and practiced this theory as an important task. MI theory has much in common with the ideologies of education reform of China and possesses the characters as well as the frontier of modern science attributes;for this sake, researchers and practitioners are in favor of applying this theory into educational reform of China; accordingly, MI theory has become a theoretical basis of the educational reform.As one branch of basic education, music education has been reformed under the influence of multiple intelligences theory.This study focuses on Howard Gardner's life, MI theory, and the "Arts" as the link of interdisciplinary theoretical cornerstone as the start points, discusses the definition of intelligence, the origin, development and future research of MI theory, traces the MI theory of "where it comes from, and where it go forward", tries to present a "whole profile of Gardner". The study discovers the multiple intelligences theory in the composition of music intelligence, criterion of music intelligence, relationship between music intelligence and other intelligences, and the study on foreign researcher's development and application of music intelligence as the educational practical achievement, those which will help people in music education studies get more in-depth understanding of the music intelligence closely related to the education. In addition, the thesis discusses the MI theory's background and channel of popularization in music education of China, the impacts on the ideology and mode of education to the contemporary music education reform, and the review of MI theory in the point of view about reference and practice in keeping with the music education reform in China. And the inevitable applications of MI theory to the music education reform are experimented and discussed. Finally, combined with case studies about the theory of multiple intelligences, the author designs some courses in vocational education concerning music, combining the practice and the implementation schemes of music education in China by the reflection on the future of multiple intelligences theory. The author expects that through ways of comparative study, literature review, action research, empirical study, this report of the thesis report might help other researchers in China better understand the MI theory, promoting more people to learn of MI theory and the significance of the theory on the reform, innovation and application in China. |
