A Study Of The Horse Drawn Chariots As Seen In The Bamboo Tablet

Vehicles and horses are the most important transport tools in ancient China. They play an important role in both daily life and wars. The research focus of this thesis is the vehicles and horses in Warring States Bamboo, including those discovered at Yangtianhu, Xinyang, Wangshan, Tianxingguan, the tombs of marquis Yi of Zeng, Baoshan, Xincai and Shangbo. By comparing the descriptions of transportation tools in the bamboos and ancient literature, the author tries to learn more about the vehicles and horses in war period and also to study some transportation rules. The examples in the thesis are based on the results of previous and latest researches, including the name of vehicle, the vehicle, the name of horse, and the horse. This research is done under the rule of stereotyping. According to the research results, the author makes a conclusion about the naming-methods of vehicle, the vehicle, the name of horse, and the horse.
