A Study On The Traditional Thread-bound Book Influence On Modern Book Design

As the impact of advances in technology, the traditional thread-bound form can not meet the needs of the period. Only bring forth new ideas, and introduce new modern elements in the new period,in order to meet the aesthetic demands of modern people.I studied the evolution of the structure and function of traditional thread-bound books, and analyzed the methods of modern design on thread-bound books. Then I attempt to explore a new locus of traditional thread-bound books in the new era. If designers can design new thread-bound books that meet the requirements of modern aesthetic.which can promote diversified development of the modern book. In this paper, I first make a point that the line and the holes could be liberated from the traditional rules of bindings, and they could become independent individuals. I analyzed the changes and innovations on the route of thread and role of bindings, and made it classified. In addition, advances in printing, binding means of increasing and the emergence of new technology and new materials have given the binding new forms on book-design, which may have more to explore on relationship between convergence and content.Through studying, I getting to know the designer of the new age is how to co-ordinate the form and content of books, how to make the traditional factors and modern technology combine valuable. From studying, I hope I can take innovative ways about the thread-bound books, and learn something useful to provide some theoretical basis and practical experience in the process of book design in the future.
