Pluralistic Vision

Since the Cultural Revolution ended in 1976, with the reform and opening up beginning in 1978, the contemporary art photography of China had begun to develop gradually. After the timid exploring in the eighties, and with the popular of concept photography in the nineties, the Chinese art photography has flourished in recent years. In the thirty years of development, the art photography from bound upon political ideology to express subjective, has experienced all sorts of trials. To arrange the history process of multifactor of art photography and to draw comparison of artistic photography in the evolution of every age, is not only to respect the history, but also to have a more clear understanding on the current state of art photography.This article is divided into five parts. The first part reviews the groups and works about new trend on art photography in the eighties, and then to point at the enlightenment value of the explore to the art photography in 1990s; the second part summarizes the two turnings of art representation and points at the meaning to art photography development; the third part classifies the diversify forms of art photography which from the late nineties to the present, and summarizes the development trend of the future; the fourth section analyzes the underlying causes of the contemporary art photography; the fifth part summarizes and analyzes the problems of the current art photography. As the final summary of the whole text, to establish the diversify development is a sign of mature of the art photography, but it is only on the phase, Chinese artistic photography should be stand on the culture and borrow the context of our nation to develop in the future.
