Republic Of China Jiangsu Highway Construction (1927-1937)

From 1927 to 1937 year, the highway construction in Jiangsu province, played a very important position in Jiangsu transport history. This because the cause of highway construction in Jiangsu province began as a integrated planning system through the province this period. This paper first introduces the road construction across the Jiangsu Province before 1927, and then from some angles such as the increase in highway mileage, the improvement in the quality of construction, the factors of building and construction, the experience and lack of construction, studies specifically road construction of Jiangsu province during this period.From the dialectical point of view, this article showed the highway construction achievements influenced by various factors in Jiangsu on the one hand, and points out the existing serious deficiencies on the other hand. Although the sudden outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War interrupt the process of highway construction in Jiangsu Province, and almost destroy all the roads by the construction in decades, but the experience of success and failure in highway construction during that period, are still some lessons should learn to today's builders of road traffic.
