Chen Ying-chen Novels

Various complex emotional entanglements make Chen Yingzhen become the unique existence in Taiwan literary world.The thesis mainly adopts social and historical study, comparative study, psychoanalytic study and cultural study. The thesis is based on the massive materials. In this thesis, Chen Yingzhen'text is studied as part of the twentieth century Chinese literature which has a broad view of history. The thesis explores the internal relations between his novels and Chinese modern literature, and also studies the internal links between his novels and Western modernist literature. On this basis, it further analyzes the complex cultural spirit connotation in his novels. The thesis is divided into four chapters: the first chapter briefly analyzes Chen Yingzhen's writing context, introducing his novels'external social environment,on this basis further analyzes the formation and development of Chen Yingzhen's literature ideas; The second chapter deals with the internal relations between Chen Yingzhen's novels and Chinese modern literature. It discusses his novels'deep worrying mentality and the influence of Lu xun literature; The third chapter analyzes that Western modernist literature has a big impact on Chen Yingzhen's novels, including Ideological content of the work, artistic skills and the potential impact of Freudianism. The fourth chapter explores the cultural spirit of Chen Yingzhen's novels. His novels not only contain the spirit of Christian culture, such as love feelings, humanitarianism, sacrificing spirit of salvation and repentance, but also include the content of Confucius Culture, such as paternal authority and self-examination spirit. So we can understand the rich cultural deposits of Chen Yingzhen's novels. The conclusion part summarizes Chinese and Western characteristics of Chen Yingzhen's novels, and makes some Objective analysis on his novel's problems.
