Language has deep relationship with man's thinking. The feature of people' thinking may have different kinds of effects on the languages they use. One important reason why Chinese are so different from the other languages in the world is the effect of Chinese people's unique thinking mode, and it's most obvious in Chinese vocabulary. But teaching Chinese vocabulary to foreigners has been ignored by teachers for a long time. So in this article my research will focus on the effect that Chinese people' thinking feature has on Chinese words. I will analyze the collected materials according to related theories, choose some outstanding features of Chinese people as research object, and then analyze their effects on Chinese words. On the base of research results, I will give some advice about teaching Chinese vocabulary to foreigners.The article includes the following aspects:First, there are three features of Chinese people'thinking mode which have deep influence on Chinese words--unitary thinking mode, image thinking mode and introversion thinking mode.Second, these thinking modes have different effects on Chinese words:unitary thinking mode makes opposite structure words; image thinking mode makes visual words; introversion thinking mode makes a lot of symbolic words.Third, Chinese people' thinking mode have active and negative effects on Chinese words, so in this article five methods of teaching Chinese vocabulary to foreigners are put forward:visual measure, motivation measure, classified measure, language condition measure and table-making measure.
