Mainland China Martial Arts Drama Studies

The appearance of Chinese mainland swordsmen TV series was relatively late. After entering the new period, with the political,economic and cultural atmosphere were increasingly loose, there were some Chinese mainland swordsmen TV series in succession. The first mainland swordsmen TV series is wusong which was adapted from classical legendary hero The Water Margin. After nearly 30 years development, Chinese mainland swordsmen TV series have formed special artistic style and show up a large number of outstanding works in declined of the swordsmen TV series in Hong Kong.Compared with the increasing of the research results of the swordsmen film day by day, the researches of mainland swordsmen TV series are less. This thesis aims to longitudinally study of mainland swordsmen TV series history, story type, aesthetics and images on the style of the evolutionary process. In chapter one, we mainly clear up the evolution of mainland swordsmen TV series to find its artistic. In chapter two, according to story type, we classify mainland swordsmen TV series into historical romance TV series, wilderness resentment TV series, kung-an swordsmen TV series and gods and spirits swordsmen TV series. These four story type portray different swordsmen and describe broad Jianghu. In chapter three, we discourse upon the myth, imitation historic, idolization, palace and drama. In chapter four, we research its movement process in video style during almost thirty years. We divide it into stage period and film period.This thesis absorbs the chivalrous-swordsmen film, swordsmen literature art and chivalry culture and other related research achievements, under the drama theory, uses narrative, culture studies and sociology to research Chinese swordsmen TV series in general.
