Lin Shu (1852-1924) a great translator, who didn't know any foreign languages, yet who, through the cooperation with his friends, Wei Han, Wang Shouchang, Wei Yi etc., successfully translated many foreign literature works into refined literary Chinese, and became a very unique and important translator in modern Chinese history. In recent time, cultural globalization is becoming more and more influential due to the diversification of information broadcasting methods and the fast development of mass media, and also draws the attention of translatology researchers. A new perspective of studying Lin Shu's translations is brought forward, which makes scholars start to re-consider the merits and demerits of his translations. This paper intends to probe into Lin Shu's localization strategies that he had adopted to deal with the cultural globalization phenomena of his time, and views Lin's translations in the perspective of cultural globalization.
