Since 1980s, new exotic overseas television broadcasting became available for the Chinese audience. After the Japanese, Singapore, Korean, and American dramas were introduced to Chinese audience, Thailand TV dramas also started to attract Chinese audience's attention. Thai TV dramas have distinctive characters; different from Thai movies which often based on a thriller or horror story plots, Thailand TV drama genres cover a wide range, from historical dramas focusing on the royal court life to ordinary youth soup operas.As Thai drama has become very popular in the Chinese market, it has started to attract scholars'attention in the boundaries of cross-cultural communication research. In this paper we use integrated methods of research including literary analysis, comparative research and others. Thai drama in China demands a systematic research based on the theory of cross-cultural communication, on the perspective of spread of foreign TV drama in China and its characteristics, on the analysis of the China's TV audience's response to the foreign dramas; it also needs to be looked at from the relative social and cultural background. We also use other methods of analyzing of the Thai drama spread strategies and their results in China, and reasons for its popularity. On this basis, we can sum up that Thai drama has a strong influence on the Chinese market, which determines the analysis of the development trends, and Thai dramas further spread perspectives…Finally, the popularity of Thai drama in China is based on the similar cultural origins, the usage of common images for expression of similar ideas, and feelings rooted in traditional cultural values. This leads to the fact that the Chinese audience can produce a common cultural psychology. This makes the Thai drama in China be easily recognizable and accepted. Secondly, Thai drama is different from Japan and South Korea for its unique exotic and mysterious atmosphere which captures and fascinates the Chinese audience and becomes adapted by China's media environment. We also should note, as Thai drama continues to spread in China mostly depending on the attractive actors and visual images which serves a strong sensual stimulation, deep meaning, unpredictable plot changes, as well as the cultural values of the drama. Due to this factors, Thai drama actively develops in the industry with it's cultural values. The development of Thai drama influence cultural spheres ,open up a wider range of marketing ideas, complete consolidation of Thai drama in Chinese market, finally can step out of a common trend and sustain ably develop as a cross cultural phenomenon.
