Names reflect the historical background,customs,religious beliefs,language and culture of a country.Because China and Thailand have different cultures,especially customs and religious beliefs,there are also differences in name culture.If we don't know each other's name culture,we may have communication misunderstanding in the process of intercultural communication.Therefore,the understanding of the name culture of other countries will help to reduce the obstacles of students in intercultural communication,and improve students' intercultural communicative competence.By comparing the basic knowledge of name culture between China and Thailand,this paper presents the role of name culture in intercultural communication and its inspiration for intercultural communication courses.This paper consists of five chapters.The main content of the introduction in the first chapter is about the research trends of Sino-Thai name culture at home and abroad,and it also explains the research purpose,significance and research methods of this paper.The second chapter is about the Sino-Thai name culture.It introduces the origin and development of "surname" and "first name" in Sino-Thai name culture,name structure of China and Thailand and naming principles.In the third chapter,the comparison of Sino-Thai name culture is compared.It also points out the similarities and differences of name culture connotation and summarizes the similarities and differences of Sino-Thai name culture.In the fourth chapter,the problems of foreign students in intercultural communication due to different name cultures are pointed out,and the main function of name culture teaching in intercultural communication is to reduce intercultural communication barriers and establish intercultural communication awareness.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the inspiration of the comparative study of name culture between China and Thailand on the course of "intercultural communication",and puts forward the necessity of name culture and the principles of name culture teaching,such as teaching level and practicality.Moreover,it puts forward the methods and strategies of name culture teaching and the design of the name culture teaching part in the intercultural communication course combined with the problems existing in name culture,which is helpful to the name culture teaching in the intercultural communication course and effectively improves the intercultural communication ability of students.The conclusion part makes a summary of the research done in this paper,puts forward the existing problems and deficiencies of this paper,as well as the future research prospects.
