The non-interrogative usage of interrogative noun of"na"series is researchedcomprehensively and systematically in this project and there are eight chapters.Chapter1 summarizes the past results of research on 000, limits the research range, then introduces the following aspects: the development of non-interrogative research; theclassification of non-interrogative usage; the angles and remained problem of the research;the significance of the research; the methods and thinking clues for the research;materials and the creating points of this project.Chapter2 focuses on the non-specific reference of the non-interrogative usage of"nali".We give the definition of non-specific reference, explore the completed abstractionstatement and the threshold–abstraction statement, and then summarize the syntacticenvironment and type under the threshold–abstraction statement.Chapter3 focuses on the arbitrary reference of the non-interrogative usage of"na li".We give the definition of arbitrary reference, explore the asymmetry situation of positiveand negative sentences and compare the order of magnitude of arbitrary structure.Chapter4 discusses the correlation of non-specific reference and arbitrary reference ofthe non-interrogative usage of"na li"by focusing on the overlapping structure of"na li"Firstly, we generally introduce the research of overlapping structure of interrogative noun;Secondly, we investigate the syntactic form of the overlapping structure of"na li",whichcan be classified as displaced overlapping and discrete overlapping; and then discuss itssyntactic distribution ,which can be classified as single distribution, double distribution, and multiple distribution; Thirdly, discuss about its semantic reference, which can beclassified as non-specific referential quantification type, arbitrary referential subjectivetype and cross-level adjacency type under its displaced overlapping structure andreferential identity reference, adjacency reference and hetero-reference under its discreteoverlapping structure; Lastly, discuss about the pragamatic function of the overlappingstructure.Chapter5 researches the negative usage of the non-interrogative usage of"na li". Firstly, we generalized the negative research, and then analyze the the negative usage of"na li"from the perspectives of syntactic performance and semantic analyses .Chapter6 investigates the non-interrogative usage of"na li"from the modalityperspective. We discuss the rhetorical tone and exclamatory tone from the perspectives ofsyntactic form and pragmatic function.Chapter7 explores the corresponding forms in English of all kinds ofnon-interrogative usage of"na li". We explain the differences and commons of the usageof interrogative noun from the contrast perspective and reveal the underlying reasons andrules.Chapter8 gives some conclusions: summarizing the basic conclusions of this project;indicating creating points of this project; pointing out the insufficient respects and lookingforward to the future research. The main innovations of this project are as follows:1. It combines the concept of aggregate in math and the concept of semantic traitanalyzes to define the non-interrogative usage for the first time.2. It analyzes the process of Semantic Bleaching of non-specific reference bygrammaticalization theory; discusses the construction of arbitrary reference byConstruction Grammar theory; analyzes the function of overlapping structure by theprinciple of quantitative iconicity in Cognitive Linguistics.3. It puts forward research of "overlapping structure" to interrogative noun.4. Use the concept of Mathematical Modeling as a reference; it clarifies the semanticorientation of the overlapping structure of interrogative noun5. It explores the intimate cognitive relationship among negative category, rhetoricalcategory, and exclamatory category.
