Bases on Lazarus's cognitive evaluation theory, this paper chooses evaluation of core stressful events in the primary appraisal, self-efficacy assessment in the secondary appraisal and coping style as research variables. This paper chooses college students and post-graduates as subject to discuss the relationship among three variables and prove the theory of Lazarus, and studies the demographic variables'effect on evaluation of core stressful events, self-efficacy assessment and coping style to improve students'social adjustment and provide suggestions for them to cope various stress.This paper prepares questionnaire of evaluation of core stressful events based on personal events, interpersonal events and study events which is answered by 350 students in Wuhan city, uses path analysis and regression analysis to analyze the relationship among three variables, and uses mean difference test to analyze demographic variables'effect on three variables. And the whole data is analyzed by SPSS11.5 and Amos17.0.The results show that personal assessments of the core value of stressful events and coping style will be significant influenced by sex, grade, and major, while only part of the self-efficiency shows significant difference on major. Self-efficiency as a mediating factor influenced the other two variables, higher valuation, higher self-efficacy, the more difficult to adopt negative coping style. Different groups of students have the same relationship among the valuation of core stressful events, self-efficacy and coping styles, while differ in the predictive validity.
