Critical thinking is an active, independent, reflective, comprehensive, and persuasivethinking activity; is personality characteristic, the quality of thinking, rational spirit; is acautious and skeptical attitude; is a positive lifestyle. Critical thinking affects all aspects ofa person's life, especially self-cognition and social cognition and so on. Therefore, thedevelopment of critical thinking will help the development of students' mental health. Thisstudy is based on learning about independent college students' critical thinking skills andmental health status, conducting correlation analysis on critical thinking of collegestudents associated with the analysis of mental health, so as to provide the basis for thedevelopment of college students' mental health education and university of logic.This paper conducted a questionnaire survey for independent college students,combined with theoretical analysis, getting the following main points:1. Independent college students as a whole are up to the positivity critical thinkingstandard, of which66.8%of the students showed positive critical thinking, systematicability,find the truth are negative Negative performance characteristics.2. Independent college students' mental health level is generally good, psychologicalproblems of detection rate of9.7%, lower than the new norm of national students.3. Independent college students SCL-90total score and each factor, critical thinkingtotal score and each characteristic, both appears significantly negative correlation relation.4. Using independent college students SCL-90total score as dependent variable,using critical thinking seven characteristics as independent variables, multiple linearregression analysis, variables into the regression equation includes: systematic ability, findtruth, open thinking, cognitive degree of maturation, curiosity, self-confidence.5. With the basis of students' critical thinking skills' scores, it divided students intothe strong critical thinking skill group and the weak critical thinking skill group, donetwo-tailed test and independent samples T-test. Strong critical thinking skill group and theweak critical thinking skill group showed a significant difference between mental healthlevel's total score and each factor.In short, good critical thinking skills declares a good mental health, while mentalhealth affects the development of individual's critical thinking ability.
