The illusion of transparency generally exists in interpersonal interaction, and is a cognitive bias in social cognitive areas. A lot of empirical researches show that the illusion of transparency exists widely in many fields, circumstances and occasion. The factors of effecting research also received many valuable results. Considering the scare fruits in discussing personality traits in the field of illusion of transparency, we attempt to study the illusion of transparency of people with different self-esteem types and different cognitive styles under two experiment tasks. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact about two kinds of personality on the illusion of transparency by comparing related indicators. In this paper, university students were conducted for tested groups, respectively, freshman, sophomore and junior students. We explore the production of the illusion of transparency to different personality traits by way of combining questionnaires experiments and later interviews. Before the start of formal experiments, 57 subjects which contains high self-esteem and low self-esteem were differentiated by SES, meanwhile, the GEFT test picked 38 subjects and divided them into field dependence group (FD) and field independence group (FI).The research sets two independent experiment tasks, which were defined as high levels of self-present task and low levels of self-present task according to the different levels of self-present the subjects appeared.Experiment 1 discussed about the influences of different personality traits on illusion of transparency under low levels of self-present while experiment 2 discussed about the influences of different personality traits on illusion of transparency under high levels of self-present. All subjects devoted to experiment 1 at first, and conduct experiment 2 right after the end of experiment 1 for five minutes. Experiments collected the statistics of values of performer's self prediction and values of the audience's actual guess, and then calculate their difference as the strength of the illusion of transparency. The results reveal as follow:1. To different personality traits, different levels of self-present have different influences on their illusion of transparency.2. In the condition of low levels of self-present, illusion of transparency presented in both high self-esteem group and low self-esteem group, but there are no significant differences between these two groups. The strength of illusion of transparency of FI group is higher than that of FD group.3. In the condition of high levels of self-present, the strength of illusion of transparency of low self-esteem group is higher than that of high self-esteem group. There are no significant differences between FI group and FD group.
